Words this app uses
Settings → About → Glossary holds forty-two terms with their sources. Here are the ones that come up most, including a few that are this guide's words for how the app counts rather than entries in that glossary.
Spotting — light bleeding outside a period. It does not start a cycle.
Cycle day — days since your last period began, counting that day as day 1.
Completed cycle — one where the next period has already started. Only these are counted.
Not typical — your own mark on a cycle that was not like your others: a flu, a course of medicine, emergency contraception. It stays visible and drops out of your range.
Withdrawal bleed — bleeding in the pill-free days of hormonal contraception. Not a natural cycle. The glossary files this under Bleeding on contraception.
Breakthrough bleeding — unscheduled bleeding while on hormonal contraception.
Started by a medicine — a bleed after a progestin course; the glossary calls it Induced bleed. Whether it starts a cycle is your choice.
Logged day — a day you said something about. The opposite is “not logged”, which is not the same as “nothing happened”.
Nothing today — your explicit answer that nothing happened. It counts as a logged day.
PCOS · PMOS — the same condition; PMOS is the newer name proposed for it. The app uses both.
Hirsutism — the clinical word for unwanted hair growth. In the app the row is called “Unwanted hair”.
HOMA-IR — a number worked out from fasting glucose and fasting insulin. The 2023 guideline does not recommend it for routine use in PCOS. There is a calculator on our site that shows the arithmetic and says so.
Reference range — the bounds your laboratory printed beside a result. They differ between laboratories, which is why the app keeps yours rather than substituting one of its own.
