Bring your history with you

Apple Health carries your history across, without retyping years of entries.

From Apple Health

Settings → Your data → Apple Health → Import from Apple Health. Allow the app to read, and it looks for period days, spotting and the symptoms Health knows about — whatever put them there, including Flo, Clue or Apple's own Cycle Tracking.

Before anything is written you get a review screen: how many periods it found, how many days of spotting and symptoms, and which apps they came from. Nothing is added until you tap through it.

What it does on the way in:

  • Days from several apps for the same date are merged, not duplicated.
  • A day missing in the middle of a period does not split it in two — Health often has holes.
  • A period that overlaps one you already logged is skipped, and the count of skipped ones is named. What you typed yourself always wins.
  • Symptoms Health records as “present” with no severity are counted and named as not imported, because our scale has no “present, level unknown”.

From another app's export file

Not yet. Reading an export from another tracker is built but not switched on, because the files those apps hand out cannot be relied on: Clue's is a password-protected archive, and Flo has no export button at all — you have to ask their support for the file. Until that is worked out, Apple Health is the way across, and most trackers write to it.

Nothing from the future

A row dated next month is dropped. A log cannot hold what has not happened.

If you have nothing to import

Type in the start dates you remember: Calendar → Edit periods, tap the days, and Save. Or Today → Add a past period. Approximate is fine and is kept as approximate.
