Trackers of your own

If the thing you want to follow is not in the list — a supplement you take, a reading from a device, which side the pain was on — make your own. Open Symptoms → Show all symptoms, and at the foot of that screen tap Add your own symptom. It opens My symptoms, where Add your own sits below your list.

Choose how you will answer it, once

This is the one decision that cannot be changed afterwards, and it is deliberate: a row answered as a scale in March and as a number in May cannot be read back.

KindAnswerGood for
ScaleNone · Mild · Moderate · Severeanything you notice more or less of
Yes / NoNo or Yes“did I take it”, “did it happen”
Numbera number you type, in your own unitwater in litres, steps, a glucose meter reading
Choiceone of your own options“left”, “right”, “both”

A number tracker also takes a unit (“l”, “mmol/L”, “steps”), and a choice tracker takes up to eight options — more than that and the row stops being a row.

You can also write your own rule under it: “glasses × 0.25”, “morning, before food”. It shows under the tracker so that in November you still know what you meant in March.

Your own trackers sit beside the built-in ones everywhere.

What each kind does downstream

  • Scale, Yes / No and Choice behave like any symptom: they are counted, they appear in frequency, in before and after, and in patterns.
  • Number gets its own line: how many days have a number and from where to where. It never appears as a severity, and it is never one side of a pattern — “on days you wrote a water number” is true of every day you typed one, which says nothing. The option you picked on a Choice tracker is kept and shown back as you wrote it — the app never ranks your own options against each other.

Renaming and removing

Rename a tracker at any time; the new name appears everywhere, including on old days.

Delete it and it disappears from your list — but the days you already answered keep their answers, and the app still knows what kind of tracker it was. A 5.4 stays a reading; it never turns into “Moderate”.
